Due to much recent media hoopla regarding The Jerry Springer Show... We happily present this exclusive multi-media commentary of unreal life from Mr. Puerta's own personal point of view. This song was written many years ago, back when "The Jerry Springer Show" first aired. Joe's compositional inspiration jumped forth after watching a particularly disturbing episode dealing with abnormally enhanced female mammilla glands, AKA "Freaks"

Lay your money down for the Freak Show Buddy
No it doesn't cost a lot, and the first looks free
Everyone's in town at the Freak Show, come on down and
Get it while its hot, if your ready or your not
It’s a Freak Show, tell you it’s a scream.
Give me your tired and your poor
We long to see their tales
Especially if they're red hot and dirty (yea)
Give us the worst you've got
All the better for all of us , waiting here to be disgusted
So just strip your pride
And lift the veil
Don't spare us from one warped detail.
Lay your money down for the Freak Show Buddy
No it doesn't cost a lot, and the first looks free
Everyone's in town at the Freak Show, come on down and
Get it while its hot, if your ready or your not
It’s the Freak Show, tell you it’s a scream.
Don't be shy, don't be coy
Just kindly state your case
Of why a man leaves his wife….. for a poodle
No, don't make it up, cause the truths such a hoot
It just gives the boot to any fiction
Why you think we'd just get sick and bored
Like Jell-O we just beg for more
And I have seen
The coming out of closet queens and aliens
Oh don't touch that dial
We'll tickle your fancy for just a while
Our darkest dreams,
The skeletons and everything are on the screen
We'll just bare the shame, for fifteen minutes of network fame
* Mike Keneally Solo
There's more to see
Than Grandma could have every dreamed
And such unseemly human slime
It's a shame they can't match it when it's prime time
Where are you now?
Old Dog-Faced Boy we've lost our sense of innocence
And that bearded dame,
Was not as hairy as these folks claims
So lay your money down for the Freak Show buddy
No it doesn't cost a lot, and the first looks free
Everyone's in town at the Freak Show, come on down and
Give us a call, Give us a call at 1-800 JERRY
It’s a Freak Show, tell you it’s a...
Lay your money down for the Freak Show Buddy
No it doesn't cost a lot, and this one's on me
Everyone's in town at the Freak Show, come on down and
Get it while its hot, if your ready or your not
At the Freak Show, tell you it’s a scream.
So lay your money down for the Freak Show Buddy
Lay your money down for the Freak Show Buddy
Note: Joe's other band "Ambrosia" has set over 100 dates for their tour of the US in the up coming year and "Freak Show" is on the set-list. Here's where their touring schedule is (sometimes) so you can catch them in your home town in 2000.
Sunken City is Joe's hand picked, 7 piece band. It was formed as a vehicle for performing his original material that isn't used by AMBROSIA . This group of virtuosos has performed live only twice then quickly recorded a few of Joes songs for a day or two during the summer of 98 in San Pedro Ca. They all had very high hopes of continuing but with Joe living in the Frozen Northern wasteland (no Jive) and the other band members residences disjointed as well, it's amazing that the band actually formed and perform together in the first place. Nowadays a seven piece band playing progressive classical pop-rock -jazz fusion is a little hard to book on the Sunset Strip or any place else on a regular basis. Sunken city was conceived one night at Tommys Yacht Club as Joe and one other unknown musician for a one time only solo acoustic show up sixth street at Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop and blew-up from there with a-lot of help from via the internet. You could truthfully say that the idea was born in a bar but grew up on the internet. Music, video and more on Sunken City's past and future to come.
AND...Sunken City the place is actually what's left of a neighborhood now sunken because of earthquakes and land movement in area on the bluffs at Point Fermin in San Pedro Ca. where many kids used to play and still do today. Chunks of asphalt jutting out toward the Pacific Ocean are all that's left of the streets which somehow acquired it's Sunken City title during the last century and is still a place where little kids play today and really old kids dream about from new places very far away
