THE WAY I HEAR IT |
|
|
| El Guerro is just one song of
many soon to be up right here for your glistening pleasure. Its the opening
cut from Brian's first solo CD, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered in 1994 at his
former San Pedro studio known as Island Melody Records. The song was written on the spot
when the late bassist Keith McCaw improvised the guitar cording structure and Brian laid it to
tape. Then, as Brian put it "I kicked Keith out and wrote the melody". On the CD titled, THE WAY I HEAR IT, Brian has arranged and produced seven original songs in which he plays both acoustic and electric cello, and fretless electric bass. The first 5 cuts are completely acoustic but the final two are intentionally electrified for contrast..... Brian began playing music at age three and soon became a bit of a child prodigy on his quarter scale cello. His father was San Pedro High's music teacher, his mother is a professional piano teacher and his sister, a very fine violinist.... When Brian reached the age of 15 he learned the bass guitar and began playing in Rock bands around town. During the seventies he played bass for SWAN.... An experimental hard rock unit featuring Bob James (The Sentry's, Montrose) as lead singer. This group evolved into SHATTERMINX, with San Pedro guitarist Mike Zulianni, which led back to a reincarnation of SWAN. |
